Account & data deletion — Helm App
Version 1.1 · July 2026
You can request the deletion of your Helm App account and associated personal data at any time. This page explains how the process works, how long it takes, and what the firm is legally required to keep.
1. How to request deletion
- If you are signed in, request deletion directly from Settings → “Delete account & data”; or
- Email contact@aran-accounting.ie with the subject “Account deletion request”, from the email address registered on your Helm App account; or
- Ask your accountant directly through your usual contact channel with the firm.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request, to protect your data from fraudulent deletion attempts.
2. What happens and when
We confirm receipt and process the request within 30 days (GDPR). Your portal access is revoked, active sessions are terminated, and personal data not subject to legal retention is erased or anonymised.
3. What we must legally keep
Irish law requires accounting firms to retain tax returns, filings, invoices and supporting financial records for 6 years (Revenue/CRO record-keeping obligations). Those records are kept for the legal period even after your account is deleted, then securely deleted or anonymised. This is the standard GDPR Article 17(3)(b) exception for legal obligations.
4. What is deleted immediately
- Your Helm App login and all active sessions.
- Profile data not required for the retained records.
- Consents (marketing or otherwise) are treated as withdrawn.
5. Questions
